Mr R Clayton - EYFS Phase Leader
In Nursery we follow topics that interest the children. Topics can last for weeks or days. In Foundation Stage we teach lesson objectives through these topics which grab the interests of the children at specific times and children learn more through their own interests.
Alongside these topics we teach and educate children about cultural and religious celebrations that happen through the year.
New Beginnings. Exploring children’s new environment and training on how to use equipment. Do’s and don’ts in their classes, class rules. ‘Brown Bear Brown Bear, What Do You See’ book, learning which colour group they are in and exploring animals through colour and sound. Change, looking at the effects of Autumn and tidying up the Gardens ready for spring. Halloween, Bonfire Night and Firework safety, Children in Need, Eid, Diwali and Christmas.
New Year and New Year’s resolutions, what we would like to get better at. Chinese New Year, exploring through activities and food tasting experiences. Shrove Tuesday, why we eat pancakes and children making and tasting pancakes. Comic Relief and fundraising. Looking at the first signs of spring and new growth.
Growth continued. Growing and looking after our plants and vegetables in the garden. Sun protection and looking after ourselves. Looking to the future and beginning transition programmes which will prepare children for their new class and meeting their new teachers.
